Thank you to all the Bronson team members who helped create fully translated Patient Menus (Spanish, Burmese and Arabic) for Bronson Battle Creek. This is yet another WIN for equity at Bronson!

Think about this, the organization has been caring for Limited English Proficient (LEP) patients for DECADES and it was a blind spot to not have a patient menu in any language other than English – even though we have a HUGE patient population that speaks Spanish, Burmese, and Arabic.  All it takes is one champion for equity to see the opportunity and help move it forward. Thank you to our champions on this project: Esther DeYoung, John Fear and Stormie Munoz!

I do have to give considerable credit to Stormie Munoz – one of our Outstanding RN’s in the Birth Center. Stormie was so passionate in her request for this to happen – she really lit a fire under us to see if we couldn’t get at least part of this done.

Additionally, Esther DeYoung, our language services coordinator, was great to work with. She did a great job working with vendors, getting quotes, etc.

This is a prime example of how practices and policies can change as we bridge across difference (identifying blind-spots and striving for change). Well done!
