We’re here to treat them and provide them with some Positivity
I have worked at the Bronson Battle Creek Cancer Care Center for about eight years. I love the patients and the staff. The teamwork that we have is incredible. It allows us to give the patients the best experience possible even though they’re dealing with a life-threatening illness.
I think we all come to work realizing that whatever is going on individually, we’re here for the patients. They didn’t want or expect to come here, and we’re here to treat them and provide them with some Positivity. We want them to know that we’re here to support them. We see them when they’re afraid, and we help them make the very tough life decisions. Working here reminds me to be thankful for my own health. The patients do that for me! They give us hope. They show us their strength and prove to us that you can fight through and persevere.
When I was starting out my career, I thought I wanted to work in pediatrics. It was only through fate that I ended up in oncology. And I am so happy I did! It gives me such pride to help these patients, teaching them about a new drug, answering a question, solving a prescription problem, etc. It gives me a lot of joy helping them!
