We left the hospital 3 days later confident that we had received the best care
My husband and I were very surprised when a routine blood pressure check turned into our labor and delivery story! While in triage waiting to be discharged, my water broke and it all began! From my first appointment (Bronson Women’s Service – Kalamazoo), the midwife team that we would see on a regular basis were wonderful. We got to know them very well and the care we received was top notch. When in the last few months of pregnancy my blood pressure spiked, things got a little scary for us as new parents. They were honest with us in appointments, and we would always leave feeling like we knew ‘the good the bad and the ugly’ of my condition, but we were left with confidence in knowing we had good care.
Erin Schaub, Ruth Tatara, and a student nurse-midwife were all stellar. We could rave about them for hours. When we moved to the mother-baby unit, my blood pressure was still not under control and spiked even higher. We were greeted by Joy (our nurse, don’t know her last name) who was just that – a Joy! She reassured us that they would do everything they could to get my blood pressure under control. As nervous and anxiety-ridden that I was, she was a calming presence. We were scared, and she knew exactly what to say and how to care for all of us, my husband included.
We left the hospital 3 days later confident that we had received the best care and excited to start our new life as parents!
