We are building some positive momentum in this important community health challenge.
I’m excited about the impact Operation Fit is having in the lives of young people across Battle Creek! Our Operation Fit partnership (Bronson Battle Creek, Regional Health Alliance, and Battle Creek Community Foundation) was developed to fight obesity by developing healthy lifestyles when people are young.
We are deeply engaged in eight Battle Creek area elementary schools -encouraging young people to increase their physical activity and improve their nutrition. Interacting with hundreds of young people every day, we are seeing improvements in physical testing, fewer disciplinary issues, positive reports of engagement from parents and teachers and students are self-reporting better choices for after-school activity and healthier snacks. It’s so rewarding to be part of the collaboration with Battle Creek and Lakeview school districts. We are building some positive momentum in this important community health challenge.
