“Volunteer work is a good thing and definitely a passion of mine.”

I’ve been retired for the past six years. So with that has come the opportunity to give back to the community I live in. To me, volunteer work is a good thing and definitely a passion of mine. I’m new to volunteering at Bronson Battle Creek, but my volunteer work with Sexual Assault Services is going on five years.

Having been a nurse for the past 43 years, I figured it would be a really good fit for me to volunteer at Bronson. Volunteering keeps your mind and body moving. I’m 70 years old, and I really need to keep moving and have some healthy things to do, like giving back and being supportive.

I think you have to have a passion for what you do, which is why I think that’s one reason Bronson has so many volunteers, including myself. As long as I’m physically able to do it, I think volunteering will be something I do until the day I leave here.
