Today, I’m back to an active lifestyle sans pain, and enjoying activities better than before

Heather Flach, Patient

Heather is happy to be back on the bike, with Dr. Christopher Betzle.

I never thought at the age of 56 that I would be having a total knee replacement. Thanks to genetics and severe osteoarthritis, I am now a statistic. I truly owe Dr. Christopher Betzle of Bronson Orthopedic & Joint Specialists, a round of applause and gratefulness. I am now moving forward with the quality of life I am used to prior to total knee replacement surgery.

In October 2020, when the world was amongst a slowdown due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I was moving forward, as usual, on my bicycle.  One small unclip from the pedal and my right knee experienced pain that I have never experienced before. It was a rough ride home. After several weeks of laying low, I realized my knee was not improving.  With one steroid injection lasting only one month, I became a prime candidate for knee replacement.

I visited Dr. Betzle for recommendations and silently prayed for a knee replacement to rid myself of this horrible pain.  Dr. Betzle was very gracious and took the time to answer my questions, explained my options and offered the best bedside manner I have ever received.  On my return pre-op appointment, he took the time to answer me and my husband’s questions, explained the procedure, what to expect pre-surgery, during surgery, and post-surgery, including recovery. I was amazed that everything Dr. Betzle explained as far as what to expect and timing, was spot on. The entire time, Dr. Betzle’s clerical and clinical office staff were very professional, empathetic and helpful.

Today, I am back to an active lifestyle sans pain, and enjoying activities better than before.  Though the procedure can be a scary and an uncertain life event, I highly recommend the professionalism and graciousness Dr. Christopher Betzle offers.
