To me, Bronson Positivity means creating a healthy environment for employees to provide an exceptional service for all of our patients, and to Be Well!
As nurse and now the manager of quality/risk and diabetes education, Debbie Smith has been working at Bronson South Haven for nearly 30 years.
I started my healthcare career as a licensed practical nurse (LPN), working directly with patients on many different medical/surgical units at several different acute care hospitals. I became a registered nurse (RN) in 1973 when team nursing was moving toward primary care nursing, utilizing RNs as the primary nurse. I decided on a career in healthcare because I needed a guaranteed job no matter where I lived – since my husband-to-be was going to be in school for a long time. Turns out – I loved it!
What I loved most about my nursing career was getting to care for people. I always loved working at the bedside with patients and enjoyed “being where the action was”. And now, having the opportunity to research health care issues and to be part of a problem solving team has been challenging, rewarding and just another aspect of healthcare that I’ve enjoyed.
Most importantly, I love working for an organization that is dedicated to providing the highest level of quality care. Being a part of the Bronson system makes providing a comprehensive plan of care for every patient even easier – since we are connected to an entire system with outstanding resources and expertise in every area of healthcare.
To me, Bronson Positivity means creating a healthy environment for employees to provide an exceptional service for all of our patients, and to Be Well! Getting to do both of these every day makes me incredibly proud!
