The tools are always there for you

Jacob Rinker, Employee

After graduating from Kalamazoo Valley Community College (KVCC) and working many odd jobs, I returned to school to pursue a profession in IT.

Computers have always been something that I was interested in but I never thought of it as a career. With the Bronson and KVCC partnership program, I was able to accept an internship with the Bronson IT Support Center while continuing my education. The program provided me with experience in numerous areas of IT – I felt like a jack-of-all-trades.

Once I joined Bronson IT team, I felt like I was able to focus and further develop my skills. I enjoy troubleshooting, problem solving and working with fellow employees as customers. They are always so grateful for your help in fixing a problem.

After a year with the support center, I was able to job shadow for an available position in Bronson Corporate Information Systems. Bronson’s willingness to train and move someone up within the organization was a great opportunity and the position was a good match for my skill set. The organization has continued to support advancing my education through certifications and pursing my bachelor’s degree at Western Michigan University.

Working in the IT department, the support and tools are always there for you, it’s a community. Even though I’m handling documents and not working with a patient directly – I know that the information being handled is an important part of the healthcare process within our organization. It’s nice to work somewhere where I feel like I’m doing some good.
