The doctors and nurses truly cared about our little boy and advocated for him

Stephanie Corey, Family Member

There are no words to truly express our gratitude for all the nurses and staff members who took care of our little boy before we even met him. We are now very close to finalizing the adoption of Emmanual but his first 2 and a 1/2 weeks were spent in the NICU without us as we didn’t know about him yet. We felt like all the doctors and nurses truly cared about our little boy and advocated for him when he didn’t have a voice or a decision maker helping to figure out the best path for him. In particular, Ashley, Cindy and Erika stepped up and looked over him with such love. They helped us bond with him and learn him. The music therapist helped us figure out different ways to interact as he is legally blind. The physicians, particularly Dr. Pierucci, guided us with such kindness and confidence. The social worker was so gentle but knowledgeable in her discussions with us as well as Emmanuel’s birth mother. In a situation that was overall very overwhelming, these people took it upon themselves to go the extra mile and make it a beautiful, peaceful time for us and we are forever grateful for this.
