The Bronson BirthPlace is very proud to be a part of the Little Hats, Big Hearts program
Every year, Bronson Healthcare partners with the American Heart Association to promote awareness for heart healthy initiatives. The Bronson BirthPlace is very proud to be a part of the Little Hats, Big Hearts program. This program is aimed at raising awareness for congenital heart defects (CHD’S) among infants. CHD’s are the most common birth defect in the United States, affecting approximately 1 in every 110 births, or about 40,000 babies each year. Every year, donors work tirelessly to knit the donated red hats that are to be given to each baby born during the month of February. This year two of the volunteers who helped coordinate and make hats were local high school students that did the work for a school project. The staff love passing the hats out, and our patients and families love to see the babies in their red hats. They are just adorable! It’s a great program in that it puts a smile on everyone’s face, and at the same time raises awareness for such an important matter.
