Thanks to Shannon and Shellie for going the extra mile to assure an exceptional care experience

Jim McKernan, Bronson Employee

Today we recognize Shannon Halt and RN Shellie Holcomb from our Wound Center for being accountable, being problem solvers, and speaking up for the safety of our patients.

Shannon is the office coordinator in our Wound Center and recently took a call from a patient seeking to cancel an appointment because of ‘too much pain.’ Shannon inquired further, and discovered the patient had been having chest pains for more than 24 hours. She urged the patient to go to the emergency department – but the patient was not convinced.

Shannon sought additional help from RN Shellie Holcomb – who also called and urged the patient to visit the ED. Without sharing further details, the patient was brought to our ED (Bronson Battle Creek Emergency Department) by ambulance and immediately transferred to Bronson Methodist Hospital for emergency surgery. Important catch by our wound center staff.

Thanks to Shannon Halt and Shellie Holcomb for going the extra mile to assure an exceptional care experience for our patients.
