Thanks to Bronson’s Home Ownership Program, I was able to buy my first home!

I think it’s pretty cool that someone like me, young and a single parent, can buy a house as part of the Bronson Home Ownership Program (BHOP). For those who don’t know, BHOP provides interest free loans to Bronson employees who are buying or fixing up a home in downtown Kalamazoo neighborhoods. I found out about BHOP when I mentioned to my boss that I didn’t want to rent anymore and wanted to buy a house.  It was pretty easy.  Kalamazoo Neighborhood Housing Services (KNHS) worked with me on the process.  Everybody was working with me and communicating with each other.  It was a cool process.  I was able to get a conventional loan with a really good down payment.  I’m getting electrical and plumbing work done in the next couple of weeks.  I’m so proud to be a homeowner and BHOP made it happen.  A lot of my coworkers are talking about how they might be able to buy a house too!
