Thank you all, for making families safer in vehicles

Pam Ford, Employee

I wanted to take a moment to thank this amazing team for making an urgent car seat check happen with very little notice.

Dr. Loder referred a Spanish speaking family to Safe Kids Greater South Haven, and I discovered that Alex, who assists me with Spanish speaking families, is no longer at BSH Rehab (she’s in Paw Paw).

Sara Henry and Ashley Newberry worked together to approve Jorge De Gyves’ assisting me, and Jenna Hill covered the front desk for him to do so.

We were in the handicapped parking outside the WC entrance, so lots of folks – who Jorge knows by name, of course – commented on his holding a baby! He explained what we were doing to many, which highlights SKGSH and the WC to the community.

The best part of it all is that the original referral was for a 20-month-old little girl, who received a rear facing convertible. We then gave middle sister, 6-year-old Melanie, a booster seat, and educated big sister, 9-year-old Perla, on the importance in wearing her seatbelt properly, and not riding in the front seat until she’s 13.

Mom was very grateful and indicated that she had no idea the ways to keep her kids safe, and that she sees lots of parents with kids not properly restrained (my words, not hers). She will share that Safe Kids is here for families who have questions.

Thank you all, for making this family safer in vehicles.

 ~ Pam
