Standing with the Survivors of Sexual Violence
The physical and emotional pain felt by a survivor of sexual violence is immense. That pain becomes infinitely worse when the survivor suffers alone, unable to begin healing. Sadly, this happens because many people won’t face the truth that sexual violence happens every day, and survivors desperately need support.
I’m personally committed to changing that mindset. So is United Way, where we fight for every person to realize their full potential, including standing with the survivors of sexual violence.
United Way supports Sexual Assault Services (SAS) through the Bronson Health Foundation because SAS brings survivors the tools they need to heal and reclaim their lives. Most importantly, SAS makes sure every survivor knows there’s a community of people who have their back.
Bringing together the partners, resources and ideas that #ChangeTheStory for real people in real ways is the heart of United Way’s mission. I’m personally proud, and United Way is proud, to join with Bronson and all those in our community willing to stand with these survivors.
United Way of the Battle Creek and Kalamazoo Region received the 2019 Betty Christ Memorial Award for its support of Bronson’s Sexual Assault Services. Chris is President & CEO of United Way BCKR.
