Rachel had an upbeat personality, yet was calm and reassuring

We just want to extend a special thank you to Rachel, the Child Life Specialist, in pre-op. Our son was scheduled to have his tonsils and adenoids removed the morning of February 7th. While it may be a pretty routine surgery to some, imagine being a kid, who has never been in the hospital before, and having to experience an IV, take medication that makes him feel “weird” and be wheeled to an operating room (without his parents) only to face his biggest fear… being put to sleep and never waking up again.

Rachel had an upbeat personality, yet was calm and reassuring. She showed him pictures of what to expect in the OR and let him see the electrodes for the heart monitor. She was patient and answered all his questions, helping to put his mind at ease. Working in healthcare can be emotionally and physically exhausting, so it’s always nice when someone acknowledges that what you do makes a difference. Thank you, Rachel, we appreciate you!
