Our patients see this place as a refuge, it is their safe space

I’m proud to work at the Bronson Battle Creek Cancer Care Center because I feel like we give people hope. Even though they’re going through something that isn’t positive, they come here and they feel supported. Our patients are really happy people who enjoy coming here. A lot of them see it as a community, a family environment. We have people who come in and say “I bet it is so hard to work here because everyone is sad,” and I tell them it isn’t like that at all. Everyone knows each other and supports each other. We had patients in our focus group say they feel like this is neutral ground, sort of a refuge. They don’t have to worry about anything else and this is their safe space, and I’m happy we can provide them with that space.
