Jennifer has listened to, cared for, and advocated for my child and me

Four nurses from Bronson Methodist Hospital recently received the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. The award is given out on a quarterly basis and celebrates nurses who go above-and-beyond to provide an exceptional healthcare experience for their patients and the family members of patients.

Jennifer, one of the 2019 Q1 recipients, was recognized by the parent of a former patient who shares:

Having a child with health issues and medical complications is heartbreaking and scary to say the least. Luckily for parents like me, God has placed true angels on earth in the form of phenomenal nurses like Jennifer VanderKlok! From our first day at Bronson Children’s Hospital, Jennifer has listened to, cared for, and advocated for my child and me. She always goes above-and-beyond to help comfort my child and keep their spirits up. I could not imagine how difficult and scary this hospital stay would be for us without her. The amount of heart she puts into her patients and their families was noticed by not only myself, but everyone who came to visit us. As a student nurse I can only hope to be half of the amazing nurse Jennifer is. We are FOREVER grateful for her kindness and compassion in such a difficult and stressful time. I believe in my heart without a doubt she deserves this award and I hope she wins, she deserves a statue! Jen is the best nurse EVER.
