In just minutes, a potentially tragic outcome was averted

Today we recognize four nurses in our Bronson BirthPlace – Battle Creek:  Ashley Crum, Amy Stanton, Brittany Knaus and unit coordinator Chayla Robles-Taylor for paying attention to detail and delivering an exceptional care experience.

Recently, a new Mom carrying twins arrived at the BirthPlace expecting that she was beginning labor several weeks early.  Ashley Crum and Amy Stanton greeted her and began admission and testing – and discovered an issue with the umbilical cord that was an immediate threat to one of the babies.  Unit Coordinator Chayla Robles-Taylor was called and the team quickly and calmly moved into emergency mode and prepared for a C-section.  Nurse Brittany Knaus joined the team – and the four worked seamlessly preparing for surgery, caring for the mother, and assuring the babies were safe.  In just minutes, a potentially tragic outcome was averted – and the twins were born.  To complete the story, the twins were transferred to the NICU at BMH and are now healthy and happy at home.

Thanks to Ashley Crum, Brittany Knaus,  Chayla Robles-Taylor, and Amy Stanton, for paying attention to detail and demonstrating professionalism and skill under pressure.  And thanks to all across Bronson who live our mission to advance the health of our communities each and every day!
