I thought, “Wow, that’s really what a physician should be”
I was experiencing, what I want to say was, a rapid heart rate. I work out and eat right every day but I have a family history of heart issues. I talked to my primary care provider, Dr. John Lawlor, who referred me to Dr. Wassim Jawad at Bronson Advanced Cardiac Healthcare – Kalamazoo.
Dr. Jawad went through my options, one being medication. I didn’t really want to take medication unless I had to, so he suggested a cardiac ablation procedure.
Everyone that I came in contact with was professional, made me feel at ease and made me feel like I could ask any question. From Dr. Jawad, to his nurse and physician assistant, to my nurse aesthesis, Cara, and the anesthesiologist; they all really went out of their way to make me feel good about the whole process. They said everything was going to go well, and it did!
The thing that impressed me the most was when I was in recovery I overheard Dr. Jawad in the hall talking to one of the nurses. She said, “It’s time for you to go home,” and he went way out of his way to say, “No, I need to stay here. My day isn’t done until I make sure all of these people are comfortable.” I thought, “Wow, that’s really what a physician should be.”
Even though you can work out and eat right every day, having a procedure done can still make you nervous. Going through the process with Dr. Jawad, I felt really, really comfortable. After the procedure, I came home that night and felt just fine the next day. The procedure gave me faith that I made the right decision. So, if you have a concern, go get it checked out. Don’t take your health for granted.
