I never want survivors to feel like they’re alone
My sister, Katie, has been a Sexual Assault Services (SAS) volunteer victim advocate for four years. After hearing about her wonderful experiences, I attended the SAS Annual Recognition Dinner a few years ago when they hosted Elizabeth Smart. After that, I made the decision to look into volunteering.
SAS is a great organization that supports several counties in Michigan. They help women, men and children who have been exposed to sexual assault. Unfortunately, there is a big need out there. I think about if I or someone I know were in a similar situation, I would want them to have support. I never want survivors of sexual assault to feel like they’re alone. We have a great community of support systems in place, and I’m glad to be a part of it. SAS is amazing!
Sexual Assault Services is a department of Bronson Battle Creek. SAS is committed to providing empathic, non-judgmental, comprehensive services, support and advocacy for survivors and others affected by sexual assault or abuse; raising awareness of sexual assault; and engaging others to join in working toward a community free of sexual violence.
