I enjoy that we constantly strive to improve because it means better care for our patients and their families
I always knew that I wanted to work with people and be able to have impact on their lives. That is why I perused a career in nursing.
Once I graduated from Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids, I started working in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit at one of the hospitals there. However, after some time, I knew I wanted to come back to Battle Creek. My wife and I both grew up here. It felt like home and we knew we wanted to be closer to friends and family. Upon coming back to the area, I started working for Battle Creek Health System – now Bronson Battle Creek (BBC). Since becoming a part of BBC, I have seen nothing but positive changes and am proud to be a part of Bronson. In fact, my wife works at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, so Bronson is a family affair for us!
When I started out at BBC, I was working night shifts. Through the years, I have been given the opportunity to advance my career and am now a full-time unit coordinator. That is one thing I love about working for Bronson – it is full of opportunities and endless chances.
I truly enjoy my current position because of the different job duties I am able to hold. I still get to work with patients and develop great relationships with them, while being able to participate with the leadership and administrative side of the business as well.
Bronson and its employees have a true passion for exceptional care and are always striving to improve, grow and learn. Our patients are always our most important focus, and I feel supported by my team.I am so proud to work for such a great health system that can meet the needs of the community.
