He worked with the patient literally turning tears into laughter

Jim McKernan, Employee

Today we recognize occupational therapist Steve Bennett for demonstrating our values of respecting all people and raising the bar.

Recently, BBC staff were working with an inpatient who faced significant discharge barriers. The patient had serious health challenges… was extremely emotional and frightened… and staff were concerned about the safety of discharge. Steve stepped in. He made an extra visit to the patient, further assessed options, worked with the patient (literally turning tears into laughter), and eventually communicated DME and home care options that resulted in a successful discharge home.

Thanks to OT Steve Bennett for his strong support of our patients and staff. And thanks to all of our talented team of therapists who contribute so much to improving the health of our patients.
