He was my definition of a hero that night

Staci McKee, Family Member

Late into the morning hours, during a terrible snowstorm, my Mom fell and broke her ankle. The ortho team in the emergency room took very good care of her, but this Thank You is extended to Jesse Whitley in particular. Jesse is a member of the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety and was stationed at Bronson Methodist Emergency that night. As I was outside the ER, alone with Mom, trying to figure out how to get her inside my car and home safely, Jesse came to my aid. He was a kind and caring man that not only helped me get her into the car, but he followed me home (30 minutes away) and helped me get her into the house safely. This would’ve been impossible by myself since she could not walk or use crutches. He was my definition of a hero that night and I will forever be grateful that he didn’t leave us on the curb to figure things out for ourselves.
