Having the region’s only Level I Trauma Center, I know how important it is to donate blood.
After working in the blood bank I realized how important it is to keep the blood supply strong, especially in the winter when it’s hard to get people to donate. Now working in the hospital, I see the added importance of donating blood. Bronson Methodist Hospital has the region’s only Level I Trauma Center, so we need to have enough supply on hand to help patients quickly. This is especially important for our neonatal intensive care unit babies who need to have fresh blood with specific attributes. Working at Bronson and having the opportunity to donate at these drives provides me with a way to give back. I feel like that is my duty and a way I can help save a life.
