Energy Star certified for third year in a row!

The facilities team from Bronson Battle Creek hospital

For the third year in a row, Bronson Battle Creek Hospital has received Energy Star certification from the Environmental Protection Agency. This means that we use around 35 percent less energy than non-certified buildings! Based on our individual score of 93/100, we are saving around $700,000 every year on energy costs when compared to the average healthcare facility of comparable size.

I want to give a special shout out to our Facilities team. They have worked on several initiatives over the past year to help ensure we received Energy Star certification again. Some of these projects include: re-engineering the way cooling is distributed to our outpatient building in order to reduce wasted energy; installation of a new state-of-the-art clinical vacuum system; and engineering and installation of a new facility wide compressed control air system.

Also, thank you to all of the Bronson Battle Creek employees who are doing their part to reduce, reuse and recycle. It is a team effort and we appreciate all you do to help Bronson in our commitment to reduce our environmental footprint and build a healthier, more sustainable community.
