Dr. Szeles and his staff were so positive and informative

Bryan Smalley, Patient

I struggled with sleep apnea all of my life. As a child, I had surgery to try to correct the problem, but got little relief. Using a CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) machine eased some of the symptoms, but I found it difficult to incorporate into my everyday life.

Over time, the sleep apnea began to interfere with my quality of life. I was barely getting any sleep, so I was constantly fatigued and just didn’t feel well.

After participating in a sleep study, my family doctor suggested I consider a new procedure known as Inspire therapy. L. Steven Szeles, MD, of Bronson ENT, Head & Neck Specialists was among the handful of doctors statewide who performed the procedure, which involves implanting a device under your skin that helps keep your airway open while you sleep. Although we live in mid-Michigan, we chose Bronson because of its great reputation.

Throughout the entire process, Dr. Szeles and his staff were amazing. They were so positive and informative, and were always receptive to any questions I had. Since having the surgery, my life has done a complete 180. I am finally sleeping through the night and have the energy I need to enjoy life!
