Bronson really trusts us to provide the best care

Colton Omler, Employee

I joined Bronson as a physical therapist at Bronson Rehabilitation Services in Battle Creek 6 years ago. Having had experience in both private and health system settings, I enjoy being a part of a bigger health system and the advantages it provides. With different clinics and specialties available such as acute care, pediatrics, orthopedics and neuro – it opens me up to so many opportunities for growth.

Our team is amazing. From clerical to Occupational/Physical Therapists and everyone in between, everyone is great to work with and supports one another. I work mostly in orthopedics, but we have therapists that work with neuro patients who have had strokes or TBI injuries, and some that do a mixture of specialties. Bronson really trusts us to provide the best care and doesn’t try to push us in one direction or the other. Here I’m able to work with patients one on one and focus on them – I personally feel like this direct patient care helps deliver a better outcome. When I see a patient get better and be so grateful that I could help them get out of the pain that they are in, that is the reward to me.

As a PT, there are certain continuing education courses we are required to complete on an ongoing basis. Also, there are classes that I have personally wanted to take. Since these classes are often expensive and require travel, Bronson has covered the cost to attend, and sometimes even brought the classes to us!  Also, my goal is to become a manager one day. My manager has let me shadow her for several weeks so I can learn more about what it takes to do that job. Also, I oversee a PT student myself.  I love being able to train the next wave of therapists coming in and help mold their practice.

Last but certainly not least, a career at Bronson comes with excellent benefits! When I came to Bronson, I felt like I had finally had great health coverage. Beyond healthcare, we also have wellness benefits like discounted massages and gym membership reimbursement, plus a good PTO system. Also, I know I and so many of my team members were excited when leadership recently announced all employees are receiving a 6% pay increase, which was especially appreciated during such challenging times! Bronson is always looking for ways to show appreciation and is interested in employee feedback – good or bad, they want to know. In our clinic specifically, our manager is always here for us. Whatever we need to do our jobs, she tries her best to make it happen. I’ve worked at many different places over the years, and you don’t get that everywhere.
