Bronson Children’s Hospital was like a second home, and Dr. Downing was so great to me.
Lindsey Gray was born with cystic fibrosis and her parents were told she would only live to be five years old. But with medication, treatments and several surgeries, she survived long past that. During her stays at Bronson Children’s Hospital, she received cards every time she was there, and she kept every single one of them.
Lindsey told herself that if she lived to be 40, she would send cards and drawings to the kids in the hospital to help brighten their day. With help from elementary school students in her community, she and her family delivered over 800 get-well-soon cards to the pediatric unit of Bronson Children’s Hospital – on her 40th birthday! “Dr. Downing was so great to me when I was a kid – he was my go-to. Thanks to the great care I received growing up, it felt so wonderful to be able to give back to the hospital that helped me so much,” says Lindsey.
Lindsey’s story was featured in her local newspaper, you can read it here.
