While working to direct admit a patient for an emergent surgery with threatened bowel in a hernia, I went down to the Admit Unit and spoke directly with the staff and asked if there was any way they could accept an additional patient. This staff deserves recognition for going above and beyond – Jennifer Dawson, Jessica Arnold, Jennifer Michelozzi, Bailey Harrison, LeeAnn Vogt, Karin Schichtel, Karen Izenbard. Because of their swift action, clinical judgment, and willingness to go the extra mile a major outcome difference was made.
