The staff members you have are amazing people, with kindness and compassion that was reflected in everything they did.
Our family...the family of Philip E. Wurtzel would like to recognize the staff of the 4th floor GMU/Oncology Unit. Our Dad was there for 2 1/2 weeks in October after his initial diagnosis of lung cancer in September. He returned again on November 4th and passed away with you on November 9th. The staff members you have are amazing people, with kindness and compassion that was reflected in everything they did. They helped us through the most difficult time our family has ever experienced and treated our Dad and our family with caring and dignity. We stayed around the clock and were always made feel welcome with linens, drinks etc. and were thanked for helping out with his care when we could. When the tough decisions had to be made the staff was helpful and supportive. And then, they went above and beyond when my Mom had her billfold with $400.00 stolen in the cafeteria the day before my Dad died. Your staff and security and patient rep were wonderful and even supplied the police with a name of the visitor in question and a security tape with the wallet in his hand. Unfortunately, the police hit a dead end, but your staff members felt so bad about what had happened to Mom they took up a collection and raised almost $200.00 and one of the nurses delivered it to my Mom's home. This kind gesture was so heartfelt, but in knowing these people, not at all surprising. I hope that this staff of amazing people, whom our family will forever hold in our hearts be recognized by the Bronson Hospital Organization and our community.
